Energy in the context of mind-body relationship and meditation, is the essence of life that exists in and around our bodies.
This energy ebbs and flows depending upon our state of mind.
In a well balanced mind-body this energy is maintained and restored through the deep rest and relaxation of meditation.
This energy can be described as vitality, enthusiasm for life, strength, stamina, drive, passion and zest.
It is the essence of wellbeing.
Authorities describe wellness as being multidimensional, involving physical, mental, social and emotional aspects that achieve a state of existence of positive health, exemplified by quality of life and a sense of wellbeing.
The ‘Wellness Warrior’ idea identifies five easy steps to achieving wellness and provides the foundation upon which you can build a sound energetic mind-body relationship:
- Step 1 is related to your physical body -
- Move – (exercise) every day
- Step 3 also physically related but this time around food -
- Nourish – eat quality food.
- Steps 2, 4 and 5 are where I believe Meditation has a role to play -
- 2 – Sense – your body speaks to you through pain and discomfort and it is up to us to ‘hear’ what it is telling us, being ‘aware’ of your body will help you look after it better and it will reward you with wellness.
- 4 – Breathe – deeply to de-stress and detox mind-body.
- 5 – Relax – practice deep relaxation daily.
Meditation helps you become aware of the needs of both your mind and your body by helping you raise your level of awareness.
